NO MORE SHIPPING!!!

Okay well it's not entirely true....but I have taken additional shipping off of the site and included shipping in the prices. This is actually excellent news to be honest as it will make everything easier - especially for you. Now you don't have to worry when you are shopping how much shipping costs will add to your final bill. The price is what it is....and while it may look like prices have increased (in truth, some have) for the majority of items it's simply because shipping is now included. If you are worried about overpaying on shipping now, keep in mind that for me to send a bow - ONE BOW - in a small box is at minimum $7 in shipping (I know, shipping from Canada is insane).

One other benefit from this method is that you can purchase one specific item (bracelet, belt, or soother clip for example) and avoid paying the pre-determined $5 shipping fee (when it doesn't cost nearly that) - though for obvious reasons I hope you get caught up in the online shopping experience and fill your cart up with lots of wonder things. *grin*

Also, since this is the *new* thing, I'm going to be eliminating the *free shipping on orders over $100* offer - HOWEVER there will, of course, be something fabulous in its place! So those of you who have benefited from this offer, rest assured there will still be a perk!

I am also going to be adding new flowers and headbands to the site this week, so watch for those.

And just because this little sweetie makes me smile - I'll leave you with a photo of our new kitten. We found her in the bush in our backyard a few days ago and we LOVE her. Our other cat, not so much....though they look strangely identical. hmmmm...(except Mr. Bella's fixed....or so the vet says. lol). Her name is Candy

You will notice that shipping is included in the price. I will be switching over all items to this system in the coming weeks....for now though, if you order ONLY a pettiskirt the website will still charge you the set out shipping fee, which I assure will be immediately refunded back to your account (you will NOT be charged shipping twice for the same item). But if you order bows and such as well, all shipping costs will be in tact. I know, it sounds confusing - that is precisely why I'll be switching everything over to include shipping. I think it will just make it easier :)

I have taken some time to update stock in the Petite Bow and Basic Bow Sections of the website. I've also cleaned up some other areas a bit to make way for the new and exciting items that are coming soon.

I also have some adorable Bowtie Bows to list, but am just waiting on a main photo before doing so - I would do it tonight but it's already midnight and I'm beat.

Individual bow photos will be coming - for now, please just use the ribbon photos (used with permission) as your guide.

Oh my goodness. I have so many cute bows and clips to add to the site....I just need to get photos taken of them and then list them. You are going to be sooo excited!!! Monday Mingle - last one of 2009!

I finally have a few moments to myself today so I thought I'd come here and spend some time on Monday Mingle - while it's still Monday...as well as I'll be posting another giveaway HERE right after I'm done.

So here are this week's questions:
1. What three things are on the top of your holiday wish list?

On the VERY top - but not likely to get this year (I asked last year too....hopefully next year, or maybe somewhere inbetween. lol) is a tv for my kitchen. I spend 90% of my day in the kitchen and would love to watch some shows throughout the day. Plus, because my kids like eating while watching - I could throw their show on IN the kitchen and have them eat there. I don't mind them eating elsewhere, it just makes for more cleanup.

The second thing HIGH on my list is a nice pair of lulu's. Something I can just slip on and zip Brooklyn to school and not worry about it. So while I was browsing the Lululemon store online (so I could send my husband links to what I wanted) I came across THIS beauty...(the orange....I LOVE it....the green would also be fab!!!) so it's now high on my list. I'm holding off on the pants because a friend told me you have to try them on before you buy and not to just order them. Guess I'll just have to get them another time and not for Christmas but just because *darn* :)

Also on my list?? actually that's really about it (I know, 3 kind of expensive items and I say *that's about it* LOL)....

2. What are you doing for the holidays? Any special plans? Going out of town?
We are splitting it again this year with my family and Brent's. The special plans - really being with family. I am soooo excited! I still have no idea what I am going to get Brent - so I'd better hurry and figure it out.

3. What is your favorite holiday cookie?
I'm not really a cookie girl, though I'll eat one here and there. But my sister in law makes the most delicious Toblerone Fudge - you can find the recipe on my cooking blog HERE and I really quite enjoy that. I do enjoy making sugar cookies with the kids though and it's always fun to decorate them together.

* I have a scar over my belly button from hot soup when I was little

* I hate vacuuming - and rarely do it (and am so grateful for a husband who does it!!!)

* I absolutely LOVE shopping online (go for a natural high!!! lol)

* I have an *X* on my right arm - yes carved there....by a friend...stupid story really - he asked if he could and I couldn't think of a reason to say no (can't quite figure out how the *cutting an x into my arm* didn't raise a red flag)...so he did...with his jackknife - no not sanitized...and because I know you're wondering - No, I don't have any diseases as a result. And yes, I do consider myself lucky. LOL

* I have always wanted a frog or turtle tattoo on my foot, on the outside edge by my pinky toe....maybe one day...

2. Do you wear perfume or cologne? What scent(s)?
I have Ralph Lauren's Blue perfume, and The Body Shop's Coconut Milk Body Lotion (this one is fabulous!!!)...I always loved The body Shop's Mango perfume, but sadly they don't make it anymore :( I like some of the body sprays and lotions fromVictoria's Secret as well as Bath and Body Works (oh yeah I have the Pumpkin Pie Paradise Lotion - amazing!!! - but it doesn't look like it's on their site. boo) . Oh and I LOVED the Bath & Body works Le couvent Lemon Verbena Body Splash but it was also discontinued :(

3. How many speeding tickets have you gotten in your life?
um...no comment....okay seriously a few....(so glad this didn't ask how many accidents. haha) - but I think I've only had 1 in the past 7 years until last month when I got TWO within two weeks...*urg*

4. Do you go fishing? Do you like to fish?
I don't go fishing although I did with my grandparents as a kid. I'm more of the *suntan on the boat while everyone else catches the fish* kinda girl....my husband and cousin's husband caught some rainbow trout a few summers ago and we cooked it up (we were camping) in garlic butter and it was AMAZING, which tells yo usomething because I don't like fish.

5. What reality tv shows do you watch?

I really like the Amazing Race...and that's about it. I've watched a few seasons of Survivor. Oh and I can't forget - I LOVE The Bachelor(ette) and America's Next Top Model. (Do American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance count??? If so, then those too lol)

It's that time of year again....all of us with kids in school or other activities, trying to find the perfect teacher gift. It's nice to give something useful and fun....without breaking the bank. I plan every year to get my act together and really get something great made up for the teachers but somehow it doesn't *really* hit me until about now - the second week of December, when Christmas break is just around the corner. *ack*

Luckily, I know a fabulous lady with a fabulous blog (you thought I was going to promote my website didn't you?? Well, why not? Yes it's true....I am flying solo again. In an attempt to simplify her life, Megan has decided to step down from Cute Like Me, as well as our Giveaways blog. We all know how busy life can get - and with a 4 year old and 2 year old twins, I'm sure we can imagine all the things requiring Megan's time and attention. Sometimes we need to step back and re-evaluate....reconsider what things are the most important as well as the most fun. It's no lie when I say I am going to miss her - it's always nice to have someone you can work together with, bounce ideas off of , who has the same interest invested as you do. But it's not worth it if you no longer share that same passion....or enjoyment. And feeling like it is worth your time. So, thanks for all your hard work Megan! She really is rather amazing and has picked up the pieces and stepped up when we needed her to (like when our web designer went MIA halfway through - Megan finished it!). She found time to do things when I would have though I didn't have any - she inspires me to do more, to do better. And I am grateful to have had her as a partner for the past 4 years.

I do have great things planned for the website as well as the giveaways blog and I am so grateful for all of you who are along for the ride. I assure you it's going to be GREAT!

I, too have done my share of simplifying in the past few months....and the website will become a nice reflection of that in the new year. There are of course other priorities and obligations to fulfill, but I can't lie - I LOVE what I do. I LOVE having this website and providing adorable, quality accessories at affordable prices. I love discovering new items - it's a natural high - and passing along what I've learned along the way. I think the reviews and giveaways blog was one of my best ideas yet - and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be in contact with so many great companies and people, and to promote some really awesome products. I love that I can involve my kids in all aspects of the business - and am grateful they are so accommodating and patient. It has to be said - I have a pretty incredible husband too. He makes everything more fun, more funny, and more achievable. I heart him.

We have been waiting a long time for this - we've been busy planning to make this new addition the best it can be. Here's the thing - we come across amazing products daily. Products that make life for us moms (and dads) easier and sometimes just more fun. Some items are for our kids, and some are just for us. But everything we find we are DYING to tell you about. As mentioned on our website, we have a deep desire to help others in their business ventures. We understand the value of word of mouth and the impact it has with advertising and have seen this first hand with our own company and the giveaways we've provided through other sites.

So - realizing we can't possibly offer every product we come across (even though we'd love to), we have decided to help faciliate our reviews of these items and companies with our Giveaways and Reviews blog!!! I just want to say thank you....

I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank all of our wonderful customers. :) Particularly those most recently who have had a longer wait time for their orders than we are comfortable with. This is not indicative of how we do business and I hope we (I) have not tainted your view of our company.
Some of you know that my father in law passed away unexpectedly at the end of March. For obvious reasons (funeral plans, etc.) we were away from home for the week following. This week away put me behind schedule and when I returned home I had to play some serious games of *catch up* with orders placed before then, during, and the days and weeks that followed. Our typical turnaround time is 2 weeks - some orders go out in a couple of days, but others have run into some stock issues, etc. In addition to this I was busy getting ready for the Lethbridge Garage Sale (see last post), which thankfully, because I was mainly clearing out some stock, required little additional effort/creating time. Thank heavens for that.

It has been a month since my father in law passed away, and I am just now finally feeling caught up. The only orders still waiting to go out are ones that have been placed in the last week and are just about complete. This is a great feeling - there is nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed and behind, and as though you are disappointing your customers. I am so sorry - seriously sorry.

And thank you so much for being so patient and understanding. Please know how much I appreciate it and how much I want your items and orders to be perfect and timely. I'm back...I'm on it....and I'm better than ever :D

In true garage sale style...

We had a sale!!! Twice a year Lethbridge does a *giant garage sale* which if you ask me, is the most brilliant idea ever. The table costs are low and it's a great way to do a lot of shopping at once and waaaaay more convenient than driving through the city trying to find the best ones, nevermind lugging your kids in and out (and in my case, trying to keep them from playing with every item, toy or not). This was our third time participating and what we know is that few people go to a garage sale looking for full priced items, so we thought we'd join in the *garage sale* feeling and have a huge sale!
It was a great opportunity for us to clear out some stock (thus making room for more new and exciting items) and give you all an even better deal! We had so much fun and it was a huge success

We had a lot of great people purchasing Cute Like Me accessories for their little ones or as gifts; it was so fun to chat with you all and help you find those perfect items!

To keep costs low, making it even easier to offer these great prices, we ditched the bow cards and bow sets and just kept everything really simple.

We LOVE the way it turned out and are so thrilled with the support we received. We will definitely be doing this again! After all, who doesn't love a sale!!!

It's nice to know what people think when they browse our website, in addition to helping promote our site by having them visit it. (You have to visit the site in order to comment).

Aside from the positive feedback we've received through here, which we are of course THRILLED about - we want to address some of the less than *ecstatic* comments. Perhaps there are more of you feeling this way.

Leaving items on the website that are out of stock: There is a method to this madness I promise! Although it never occurred to us to be madness - there are a few things we can no longer get which definitely need to be removed. But for the items we are simply *out of* - we leave them on the site for a few reasons: Some customers like to see what others are buying, Some customers want to place an order but realize they prefer an out of stock item better than something currently in stock so they contact us, or perhaps just wait until the item becomes available online again. Some items we have coming in the mail but don't want to update our status until we physically have the items (we've had issues with mailmen adopting our items for themselves, as well as other mail getting lost - well *lost*). And last, but certainly not least - it helps keep us more organized. Keeping a quantity of stock is sooo helpful and lets us know what items we are running low on and which to order next. If we are out of stock of something but have only sold 1 in the past few months, we may hold off for a little while on ordering more in. But we want to keep it on the website because ultimately the item is still available. We have an agreement with our suppliers to allow us to order piece by piece, so we are not always having to do bulk orders! Okay - hopefully that makes sense. :)

Shipping - We were happy to see a few people comment on how the shipping prices were reasonable. We are so relieved to read this - it was such a task to figure out what we wanted shipping to be. We don't believe in paying ridiculous handling fees (if any) but also ran into the problem of the difference in shipping for a bracelet or a set of bows - bows almost always need to be shipped in a box to keep their shape whereas a bracelet can be shipped in a simple envelope. But there really wasn't a way to organize this to accomodate the different scenarios. So we came up with what we felt was the most fair. Hopefully you agree!

It wasn't mentioned in this particular review - but we also want to address why we carry holiday items all year round. We are slowly but surely getting our holiday selections up and running. Hopefully by the end of this year (before Christmas) we'll be ahead of the game and be able to offer you all the fun christmas items BEFORE Christmas. LOL One of the reasons we offer our holiday items all year round is to help you, as the customer, benefit from the free shipping over $100 offer. If you can take advantage of the offer by planning ahead and buying a few things for the upcoming holidays - we want you to be able to do that. Then you are't putting in a few little orders throughout the year (not that we mind at all!) but rather you can put in one larger order and receive free shipping!

It was also mentioned that we have such a small selection for boys. WE KNOW! We are searching high and low for more and more boy items. With both of us having boys, we understand the need for more adorable boy accessories. We are on the hunt, don't you worry...and hopefully we can add more and more items for your boys! The Canvas belts will help with this - at least adding one more item to the list, but still - we are working to add more! If you know of anything that's a *must have* let us know - we love finding new things and are always looking to expand!

A few people commented that our site didn't have anything unique. I guess this really just comes down to where you are from and what you have around you. In some areas, all of these items are already available, so no - our site would not be considered *unique*. However, there are so many areas where these items are not available and having access to them (particularly in Canadian dollars) is really a great thing! The crafting world is really picking up and there are more and more women and moms creating new items - it's a really fun thing for us to be able to offer a *one stop shop* of sorts, where you can find something fun and even unique.

Some of our items are a little on the high end for pricing. It's true - some are. But rest assured the prices of items we bring in from suppliers are the same retail prices they use - so know that we aren't price hiking in any way. We account for the exchange in our prices though - so it will appear to be a bit different, but it's simply the CAD/USD difference. As for the items we make ourselves - we are also not hiking the prices up. Of course every business has the goal of making of profit, and ours is no different....but our whole purpose is to offer these fun and unique items at affordable prices. Not everyone can or wants to pay high end boutique prices - and we didn't want to just cater to those that can and do....We offer high quality boutique items for affordable (not boutique) prices!
And we almost always have a coupon code offering a discount, which also helps! (who doesn't love a coupon code!!)

All in all, we are working hard to bring you the very best and the most reasonable prices! We LOVE what we do and the opportunities this brings us. We have met some incredible and talented people along the way - it's such a great network to be a part of. We love getting your orders and find great satisfaction in hearing how much you love the items!

Okay - I know this has nothing to do with accessories for kids but I wanted to pass along one of my other passions - cooking! I love it...I love being in the kitchen and spend about 80% of my home time in it (I can't say my husband minds! lol). Case in point - I'm not much of a skiier or snowboarder and consider myself more of a *lodge bunny* if I'm being honest. When I think of a day at the hill I picture everyone out snowboarding and me back in the lodge fixing the grub! I love cooking for friends and family and love trying new things. I'm also a big fan of finding recipes that are easy to make and don't have to be stressful. So, I decided to start a cooking blog...I'm blogging all my existing recipes as well as new ones I am trying.

So I guess we're a little addicted to giveaways around here. Our next giveaway is fabulous! We are giving away a custom bracelet!! You choose the design and it can even be personalized with the sterling silver letter beads. You can add a full name, initials, or whatever you want! If you don't like any of the bracelets you see, just email me and we can work something out so that you can have the perfect bracelet for your little one.

I only use the best materials: sterling silver beads and components, swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, cat's eye beads, stainless steel coated beading wire, and quality glass beads (I say "quality" because some are not.....quality). The bracelets in the "clearance" section are there for a reason. I started with those beads but they do not last. I only want the best for my customers, so I'm getting rid of those. I also add a 1 inch extender chain so the bracelet will fit your little one for many years. Sizes range from newborn to 13 years. The sizes on our website are generally right, but all kids are different so I recommend measuring the wrist and adding 1/2" for wiggle room.

Fun with beads

I've been having some fun lately designing new bracelets and beaded clippies. I finally got them up on the website. Take a look! Just look in the New Items section to see what's new, or check out all of our bracelets and beaded clippies.

I made the June bracelet for my daughter, and my sister in law had me make similar ones for her 4 daughters. I think they turned out great. If you want other colours in this design let me know. I love doing custom orders.

Ribbon Headbands and more...

We have finally added our ribbon headbands to the website! Aren't they fabulous!!! These headbands are adorable and completely adjustable so you can purchase one for your toddler and wear it yourself! Gotta love that!!!

We have been really busy filling orders and making plans for the months ahead. Of special interest to you, we imagine, is what's happening in March!!

For starters - our coupon code CUTE10 is still activated - so take the opportunity to save, even on the clearance items! :D

Megan has been working hard to finish off our newsletter to give you all some updates on what we are working on. So for those of you who receive it, this might be a bit repetitive. She has also designed some even more stunning beaded clippies and bracelets which will be added to the website soon, so watch for those!

We are also working to get the canvas belts and ribbon headbands up on the site and ready to sell. We are THRILLED with them and are so excited to put them on the site. Watch for those by the 10th!

WE HAVE WINNERS!!!

We have been overwhelmed by the awesome response to our giveaway. It's so much fun to see where everyone is from and that some of you have passed us along to friends and family. Thank you to everyone who commented...those who passed it along either by blog or word of mouth (or e-mail, etc)...and those who were able to send in photos of your kids wearing some of our products. It's so exciting.

I have personally been so giddy with excitement to know who is going to win these pendants. I'm thrilled the time has come....First of all I assigned you all ticket numbers based on which pendant you liked best (if you didn't specify, I chose for you) and in which order you commented. Also of course taking into account how many *entries* you had. For the VW pendant the ticket numbers range from 100-147 and the Carnation from 200-227. I am going to simply put the numbers into our fabulous random number generator (on the right hand side of our blog) and let it do the work.
